If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it still make a sound?

I encountered two examples of what I like to call “rich media”.

This is the first (1st) example.

We are bombarded on a daily basis with crap media.

Lousy news, shit entertainment and a fantastic barrage of public relations, propaganda and celebrity bullshit.

All designed to shape opinion and drive consumerism.

The Internet is riddled with porn, variations of porn, self-importance, bullshit, madness and nonsense.

It really doesn’t have to be that way.

I found the below article online. It is very well researched. It offers numerous links to other interesting information. It has visuals (charts and metrics). It has options to view the actual research and collected data as well as scientific methods used. All of this is offered under a Creative Commons License. That means it can all be viewed, copied and reproduced for free, provided you mention the actual source where the content originally came from.

I’ll just redirect you there.

I am pretty gloomy about the future. I’ve been so ever since my daughter was born.

Our planet … and pretty much everything on it… is going to hell in a handbasket.

It bothers me so much that I find it difficult to watch documentaries about the meat-industry, or the poultry-industry, or loggin, or mining.

Our extractive industries have been causing irreperable harm to this planet for ages.

And it'll only get worse.

Once in a while I read an article like this, just to ehm… y’know depress me some more…
